Former Esse Health CFO David Kearney, CPA, became the new president and CEO, effective July 1, 2021, following the planned retirement of president and CEO Michael Castellano.
For the past 16 years, Kearney’s financial expertise within population health has been instrumental to the success of Esse Health. After joining as Controller in 2005, Kearney was promoted to CFO in February 2009. Under his tenure, Esse Health expanded a number of its value-based payer contracts, including with the Essence, Aetna and UHC Medicare Advantage plans. Kearney also was instrumental in incorporating value-based medicine into many of Esse Health’s commercial payer contracts.

Prior to joining Esse Health, Kearney served as a Controller at Transentric, a Union Pacific Corporation subsidiary, and Westar Aerospace & Defense Group.
