ST. LOUIS – Independent physician group Esse Health today announced the promotion of Erin Stamm, MBA, RHIA, NCP, to Vice President of Health Information and Coding. CEO Mike Castellano made the announcement. Stamm joined Esse Health in 2010 as its Director of Coding, Compliance and Health Information. She recently oversaw the successful implementation of an advanced electronic health records system, NextGen, in all of Esse Health’s 31 offices. She now manages the roll-out of NextGen’s patient portal, allowing patients 24/7 access to their physician’s office. “Erin did a fantastic job in the challenge of implementing a new electronic health records system in all of our offices, and continues to impress us with her knowledge and guidance in the ever-changing coding and compliance world,” said Castellano. “She is well-deserving of this promotion not only due to her work inside our company, but for her work within the health information industry and with fellow healthcare groups throughout St. Louis.” Stamm created a physician education process for coding and documentation and developed a comprehensive Coding Compliance Workplan, outlining the audit process, education, reporting and analysis of audit findings to Esse Health physicians. She is an annual speaker at the Health Information Senior Seminar at St. Louis University, and she spoke in April on ICD 10 to the NextGen St. Louis User Group, outlining how this will be implemented in physician practices.
Prior to joining Esse Health, Stamm was an administrator of health information management at Washington University School of Medicine Department of Orthopedics. Stamm completed her master’s degree in business administration and Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from St. Louis University. As an active member of the St. Louis University Student Advisory Board for Health Information, she helps advise the Health Information Management program professors on what the workforce needs/expects out of new graduates and provides opinions on new courses and curriculum that SLU develops. She is also a member of the American Health Information Management Association, Missouri Health Information Management Association, and Eastern Missouri Health Information Management Association. She formerly served on the Nominating Committee for the Missouri Health Information Management Association. Esse Health is an independent, St. Louis-based physician group that strives to improve the overall well-being of its patients through patient education, lifestyle modification and prevention.
